HUMIDITY PROBE CALIBRATION CHECK SALT SOLUTIONS
33% & 75%

ASTM 2170-09 requires that humidity probes be checked for proper calibration within 30 days prior to their use. The use of calibration salts is a simple and easy way to check to make sure your humidity probes are properly calibrated.

Procedure:

1. Store salts in the original packaging supplied by Taylor Tools.

2. When checking probes, make sure salts were stored in a controlled environment - 60°-95°F (15°-35°C) - for at least 24 hours prior to use.

3. You will need to know the ambient temperature of the room in which the salts are stored and used.

4. Insert the humidity probe on which you wish to check into the container.

5. Allow the probe to equilibrate in the solution container. This will vary depending on the temperature of the probe. To ensure that the probe has equilibrated, there should be no change in humidity over a 5 minute period. It may be advisable to have several salt solutions for checking multiple probes.

Results:

Use the chart on the container to match the ambient temperature with the humidity result. If your probe measures within 2% of the humidity spec on the chart, the probe is within calibration and is ok to use for the next 30 days. If the probe is not within 2%, the probe is defective and should be replaced.
